Pinterest – Obsessive Much?

Yes, I have a Pinterest existence.  I have about a dozen boards, at last count, and they all have at least 5 pins.  Many have lots, lots more.

I just spent the last 30 minutes on Pinterest adding pins mostly to my Travel, Genealogy Research, Cats and Business Development boards.  I think I added at least a dozen pins to each board and would’ve continued had I not forced myself to leave the site!

I can’t seem to help myself!  I get on just to check out a couple of things or to try a pin, and I end up spending anywhere from 15 minutes to an entire hour choosing pins to save, looking at the boards of people I follow and making a short list of pins to try!

Obessed? Could be.  Still, I’ve found a lot of useful information using Pinterest so this is one obsession I’m not going to quit anytime soon. 🙂

See you all on the flipside and don’t forget your towels and sonic screwdrivers!

Crimson Shore – Preston & Child

This book is written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.  They have written 15 novels featuring Agent A.X.L. Pendergast.   It is published by Grand Central Publishing Copyright 2016.  My copy is a trade paperback with about 395 pages of story in it plus an About The Authors page that is almost a full page.  They have a Facebook page and a website: PrestonChild.com

As I said in a previous post, I had read an earlier book by the pair featuring this FBI agent, and I wasn’t too thrilled with it.  Now, years later however, I am actually liking the guy and his methods of doing things his way – helps when you’re seriously rich I guess.

Anyway, in this book, our erstwhile hero and his assistant/ward, Constance Greene, are asked to look into the theft of an entire collection of wine from the cellar of the former home of a lighthouse keeper – said lighthouse being under the care of the US Coast Guard – but the house not, in Exmouth, Massachusetts.  They find all is not what it seems!

This story is full of lots of wonderful twists, turns and the general sneakiness of good mystery stories.  Agent Pendergast is someone who reminds me of Hercule Poirot, without the accent or the moustache!  He keeps his thoughts close to the vest, asks leading questions of Constance to get her quick mind to work and is quite the showman when he needs to be.

Constance is a shallow person to me so far.  She’s a secondary character who is more sidekick than anything else.  I have only caught glimpses of her backstory in the two books I’ve read so far.  I am looking forward to going back to the beginning and starting this journey the right way.

I highly recommend this book!  It’s lots of fun, and I actually read it in one sitting as I couldn’t set it down even to get some sleep!  As always, don’t take my word for it – peruse the book yourself and decide whether it’s worth reading.  Form your own opinion about it as well.  After all, who am I to tell you what to think and what to feel?  That’s your job.

Walking Home From Work…

Walking home from work this morning, I felt like I was on the set of a 1930s style movie set.  I know the scenery isn’t from the 30s, but it was the feeling.  I’ve seen Singing in the Rain numerous times, and this morning brought it to mind.

The streets were empty – it was 4:45 am on a Saturday after all.  There was a light rain falling – not enough to make me get a ride home, and I only live 300 steps away from the motel room where I’m staying.  Early birds were chirping, unseen, in the bushes and trees.  I kept expecting either a man in a suit to start singing or a masked axe weilding psycho to show up. 🙂

Yeah, I know, I’m weird.  I’ve seen a wide variety of movies in my 48 years of life, and some of them tend to mix in my imagination. What can I say – it’s a gift. 🙂

I’ll leave you with that little bit of weirdness and get on with the rest of what I need to do before bed.

Supernatural – The Television Series

I’ve been binge watching this show off and on for a while now.  I saw the first six seasons when they first aired and then, I moved to nights at my job so was unable to keep up.  Now, I watch when I have time – usually while I’m loom knitting a hat for charity at the same time.

I’m up to Season 9 now, and the show has already lost most of its luster for me.  The first six seasons had great story lines and lots of fun stuff to watch.  Now, it’s just not as much fun to watch.  As someone pointed out, “it’s monster of the week” episodes usually.

I still watch because watching sexy but not so smart Dean and smart but not as sexy Sam battling monsters is still fun. The kinda sexy Crowley and the cute Castiel are fun to watch with their own offerings to the show.  Actually, right now the angel Castiel is human, and his own muddling through life is something I think is great for the show.  It brings one of the larger than life all powerful denizens down to earth, literally.

Current story line: All the angels in heaven have fallen to earth, and a big group of them are hunting for Castiel because he’s to blame.  Castiel, now human thanks to another angel ripping his “grace” away from him, is adapting to human life as best he can while hiding out from the angels.  Sam, almost dieing(yet again) while attempting to close the gates of Hell, is possessed by the angel Ezekiel, but he doesn’t know it.  Dean, knowing his brother is possessed, is having to live with the fact he’s lieing to Sam(again) while waiting for Ezekiel to heal Sam from the inside out.  Ezekiel was also hurt during his fall so he’s healing himself while healing Sam – supposedly.  Crowley is locked up in the dungeon of Sam and Dean’s “bunker hideout” and Abaddon, a demon, is taking over Hell while he’s gone.

It has a thread of interesting wrapped up in episodes of stupid which I fast forward through.

Anyway, just thought I’d share before I head off to work.

A Book Review

Well it was what I had planned on writing for this posting but then, when I sat down to write about a book I’d finally found time to finish, I went blank.

I actually have had very little sleep today since I had to stay up after work this morning to go run errands until almost noon.  Then, I had issues going to sleep – the world outside my door and window is very loud at times – so there was that.  I got maybe five hours of sleep which is supposed to be great.  Me, however, I take a medication for my medical condition which zonks me out, once I get fully asleep and waking up is almost as hard as going to sleep.  I know, cry me a river why don’t you.

Still, I’m going to say a few words about the book and later, I may do a full blown review – I haven’t decided yet.  Here it goes:

Blue Labyrinth by Preston and Child is a good book.  I have read them before, but I didn’t like their main “good guy” Aloysius Pendergast.  He’s grown on me since reading this book so I’m going to go back and read the beginning book – when I can find it.  I recommend it for those of you who like a good “what the hell is going on” book.

As always, don’t take my word for it.  Read the book yourself.  Following someone blindly will only get you run into a wall, or worse.  I merely give you my own honest opinion about something, and it’s up to you to listen or not.

So, it’s that time again.  I need to get ready for work soon.  I’ll see you on the flipside and don’t forget your towel and sonic screwdriver.

Hi There!

No, I didn’t forget to check myself and ended up wrecking myself. Nor did I fall off the edge of the world like some clueless Flat Earthers believe.

What happened is, since I was last here, I’ve been busy working two jobs – my job at the fast food joint and my job with my Etsy shop.  I’ve had a couple of big projects for the Etsy shop which have been completed so I have more free time – Free Time? What is this Free Time you speak of? 😀

I am now working on my time management skills so I get do what I need to do and still have time to do it all.  I tend to keep my days full because I suffer from ADD and from Depression.  If I don’t stay busy, first I get bored and fidgety, then I get depressed – it’s not a pretty sight I assure you.

Still, I’m getting back into the swing of things – even found some time to do some writing – besides blogging that is.

I’ll most likely be blogging right after I get home from work, like I’m doing now.  Please, be gentle with me since I’m not known for making sense when I’m worn out.  Still, I will do my best. 🙂
